Secrets cast shadows on the soul.
After ninety-one years, Petra Dressler has learned never to dwell on the past. What is done cannot be undone. Do you love losing yourself in stories from a bygone era?
I certainly do. Stories based on people's experiences during some of the most trying and influential times in history inspire me. Chronicles involving women protagonists are especially fascinating considering how different their lives were when compared to the women of today. Sometimes they start off timid and weak but later, through events beyond their control, become formidable characters we can appreciate. Conversely, for protagonists who immediately possess an inner strength, these events can sometimes break their spirit. Either way, the struggles these characters face and how they choose to deal with them make for an interesting read. Although fictional, real life accounts are the foundation of my work. I believe my characters and their experiences should appear genuine and give you, my reader, the opportunity to connect with them on an emotional level and perhaps have you asking yourself what you would do if placed in a similar situation. |
